Alpaca Fashion Show Brings Top Designs from Peru

The show will feature the best of this season's designs in luxurious alpaca; fine, lustrous pima cotton; and stunning silver jewelry from Peru. There will also be a remarkable buffet, featuring Peruvian food and drink, as well as Peruvian music, a silent auction, and a drawing for a valuable scarf of pure vicua--a relative of the alpaca and the finest fiber in the world.

Two of Peru's top designers --Titi Guiulfo, who designs trendy, eclectic clothing and accessories; and Ester Ventura, a jewelry designer whose work is a unique blending of the treasures of nature and silver -- are traveling to Denver from Lima for this important show!

"I am very excited to bring my fashion designs to Colorado so that people in North America can see the beautiful colors and designs of South America," said Guiulfo. I love helping the school children in my country and they are very excited that they are learning and conserving the ancient art of weaving--and that their work will be shown in the U.S.!"

Those attending "Alpaca Elegance" will see not only the latest in fashion and jewelry design and alpaca wear, but also fiber artists demonstrating their crafts, as well as ethnic displays and the lovable alpacas themselves.

Your Peruvian journey will begin at 6 p.m., Saturday October 8 with a Peruvian buffet, including traditional Pisco sours.

Directions: The Turnhalle Auditorium is in the Tivoli Building at Auraria Parkway at 9th Street. Parking is on the west side of the building, which is also where the live alpacas can be visited. Seating is limited, so reservations are required.
