The importance of a healthy lawn is shown by an ongoing experiment at Arizona State University in Tempe. The experiment indicates that, even in a desert area, people tend to gather in grassy areas to socialize rather than in areas landscaped in a desert theme with no grass. ABC News, reporting on the experiment, says, "The lack of a lawn can mow down your social life."
